Pilonidol Cyst or Sinus Disease
Pilonidol Cyst or Sinus Disease…
This disease is a common infective process of skin and ingrown hair which occurs in the sacrococcygeal area (just above coccyx or tail bone) usually at or near midline.
The cause of this disease is still controversial but is believed to be more from traumatic causes rather than congenital. It used to be called "Jeep's disease" among soldiers during World War II. It is also common in hairy young people.
Chronic condition of this disease may require surgical intervention.
